NEWPORT NEWS – Mackiva Spivey Jr, age 81, departed this life to be present with the Lord Monday May 13, 2019.  He was born May 15, 1937 in Hobbsville, NC to the late Bessie Nowell and Durwood M. Spivey. Mackiva was a resident of Newport News for 48 years; he served and retired from the Military in 1977 as Chief Warrant Officer (CW2).

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nina Spivey, and brother, John Spivey, and leaves behind to cherish his memory his children, Annette Spivey Bradsby (Kernell), McDarwin Spivey, Denise Spivey, and Allen Spivey; grandchildren, Mariah Poole (Randy) and Bria Royster; great grandchildren, Randy Poole, Landon Poole, Azyiah Royster, and Lyric Royster; stepmother, Mattie Spivey; sister, Eva Smith; and brother, Wendell Spivey.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Peninsula Memorial Park Cemetery in Newport News VA.
