Mabel Lee Hoover, 97, widow of Col. R. Jack Hoover, died Thursday, June 24, 2021. Born in Snyder, MO,
Mabel was a Hampton resident from 1962-1982 and returned to Hampton in 1999. She served in the
WAAC (Women's Army Air Corps) in WWII and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Mabel is survived by her daughters, Kathryn Sue Butti and Patricia Ann Hoover; son, Corey M. Hoover;
grandchildren, Melinda Hollingsworth and Kathryn Stacey Butti; and two great-grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by husband Jack; daughter, Lana Hollingsworth; sisters, Kathryn Eisner and Geraldine
Sharman; and grandson, William Hollingsworth III.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 5-7 pm at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S.
Armistead Ave, Hampton. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am, Friday at the funeral home
and interment will follow at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
