Luther E Simmons III, affectionally known as "Sam" by his family and friends, (62) of Yorktown Va. passed away on March 8, 2024 after courageously battling several illnesses for many years.

Sam was survived by his wife Tina Simmons of almost 20 years, his brother Harold (Pete) Simmons and nephew Julian Saunders; as wells as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Sam was predeceased by his parents Luther "Earl" and MaryLou Simmons, grandparents Luther and Violet Simmons, Hugh and Dorthy Robinson and his son Brandon Simmons.

Sam graduated from Hampton High then Newport News Shipbuilding Apprentice School.  He spent 20 years with NNSB as a pipe fitter before transitioning to Norfolk Naval Shipyard for another 18 years retiring as an Assistant Project Superintendent.

A celebration of life will be held at Bethany Methodist Church on March 21, 2024 at 11:00am.  Reception to follow.
