Obituary

Lt. Col Wesley R. Williams, USAF Ret. passed away May 20, 2016 at the age of 94. He was born in Buffalo Illinois and had been a longtime resident of Hampton. Wesley served during WWII with the 492nd Bomb Group as a bombardier on a B-24 Liberator and during the Korean Conflict served as a bombardier on a B-29 Superfortress. During his military career he also worked as a recruiter and after retiring he went on to work for 20 years as a Public Information Officer for the Department of the Army. Wesley was an accomplished golfer and loved to read. He had a passion for history and traveling to the Southwest.

Wesley was preceded in death by his wives, Lorraine Jardine Williams and his late wife Barbara Cooper Williams, as well as his daughter Sharon Diane Spence and granddaughter Stacey Hallowell. Survivors include his children, Kerrin Schultz (Douglas), Keira Zapien, Wesley Williams Jr. (Patricia), Kenna L. Rockey (David), as well as thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Deborah Boyer and Dr. Natalie Barron for their compassionate care.

A private interment will follow in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
