IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lorita Lewis
Lupton
September 11, 1935 – August 29, 2022
Hampton
Lorita Lewis Lupton, 86, died peacefully, surrounded by family on Monday, August 29, 2022. Born in Aurora, North Carolina on September 11, 1935, she was the daughter of Hyman and Hazel Willis Lewis.
Lorita married her beloved husband, Brian Lupton on August 27, 1955, and they just celebrated 67 years of marriage. They started their life together in Raleigh, NC while Brian was at North Carolina State University. They moved to Hampton in 1961. Together they raised their three children David, Karen, and Kenny. Lorita was an active member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church and a longtime volunteer at H.E.L.P., Inc. where she passionately served the homeless. After Brian's retirement, they spent many years traveling across the United States in their RV. Lorita was the matriarch of her family, and their loving home was always filled with children and grandchildren spending time together.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Willis Lewis. Lorita is survived by her husband, Brian; children David Lupton (Sara), Karen Cannon (Jeff), and Kenny Lupton; sister, Lois Sadler (Frank); brother Malcolm Lewis (Kathy); and sister-in-law, Faye Lewis; grandchildren, Joshua Murray (Amber), Michael Lupton (Nena), Amber Paxton (Drew), Ben Murray, and Andrew Murray (Cassie); and great-grandchildren, Charleigh Lupton, Lorita Joanne Murray, Crystaleigh Lupton, Callan Murray, Sean Murray, Rosalind Murray, Declan Paxton, and Sophia Murray; as well as her beloved dog, Molly.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Hampton, officiated by Rev. Debra Clark and Rev. Jeff Cannon. The family will receive friends after the service. A private interment will be held at a later date at Parklawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials take the form of donations to Parkinson's Foundation (parkinson.org) or St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 99 E. Mercury Blvd, Hampton, VA 23669 in Lorita's name.
