Loretta F. Carpenter, 89, died Saturday, September 9, 2017. Born in Rhode Island, she was raised in Middleboro, MA and moved to Hampton in 1947.

Loretta was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, John Carpenter, Jr.. She is survived by her sons, Douglas Carpenter (Cindy) and Bruce Carpenter (Dona); grandchildren and their spouses, Brad Carpenter (Jamie), Katie Gordon (Scottie). Joshua Carpenter (Katelyn), Rachel Bright (Jeremy), and Rebecca Rollyson (Bradley); and three great-grandchildren.

Loretta loved the Lord and served faithfully at Langley Baptist Church. She was also a volunteer with the Meals-on-Wheels and Peninsula HELP. Special thanks to the staff at Northampton Convalescent Center for their loving care.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 – 7:00 PM Tuesday at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home in downtown Hampton. A celebration of Loretta's life will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday at Langley Baptist Church. Immediately following, the interment will be at Parklawn Memorial Park.
