Loraine Saunders, 81, died peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, October 15, 2026. Born January 3, 1945, she was the oldest daughter of Roy Curle Sinclair and Oreatha Donaghey Sinclair Hardison. She was born in Hampton, VA and spent her younger years in Warrior Mines, WVA. She returned to Hampton in the early 1960's and met the love of her life through her brother Buddy Sinclair when they both worked for Hampton Fire Department. She enjoyed being a wife, mother and Nana. Her family was her greatest joy.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her brother Thomas Sinclair (“Buddy”) and her sister, Ann Starcher.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas H. Saunders; her daughters, Sherri Saunders Spiers and Martha Saunders (Chris Sanchez); her sister, Jeanette Reitz (Paul); her brother, Ronnie Hardison; three grandchildren, Alexander Sanchez (Shelby), Sarah Owens (Matt), and Timothy Crumbly (Ciara); and three great-grandchildren, Jonathan Sanchez, Grayson Owens and Colton Crumbly.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 7, 2026, in the R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home chapel by Pastor Bernie Gillott, IV.
