Obituary
HAMPTON - Lobelia Barrett Mallinson "Bea" 86, died peacefully on February 11, 2016. She was the only child of the late Robert Lee Barrett and Della Gammell Barrett . A Hampton native and near lifelong resident, Bea graduated from Hampton High School in 1946 and briefly attended Elon University before accepting a civilian employment position with the US Army Finance Office at Fort Monroe in 1947. Following her time there she transferred to a clerk typist position at the 1001st IG Flying Safety Division at Langley AFB where she worked from 1949-1952. She is survived by her daughter Katherine Mallinson Dunlap and granddaughter Sarah Barrett Dunlap. The family will receive friends at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 23, from 6-8PM. A graveside service will be held at Cedar Grove Cemetery 238 E. Princess Anne Rd. Norfolk, VA on Wednesday, February 24, at 10AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be designated to Bon Secours Hospice online at www.bsvaf.org/supporthospice , or mailed to the Bon Secours Richmond Foundation, 7229 Forest Ave. Suite 200, Richmond, VA 23226
