Linda Elaine Cotton, 56, of Hampton, VA, passed away peacefully in the hospital on Wednesday, December 5, 2018.

Ms. Cotton was born in Cleveland, Ohio on December 28, 1961 to Archie Irving Floyd and Clementine Joyce Floyd. Linda attended John F Kennedy high school and graduated in 1980. Linda enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, cooking, playing video games, and playing bingo. She was caring to all including those she didn't know. It was not uncommon for her to invite complete strangers to stay a night or two in her home. She believed everyone was just one wrong decision from being in that unfortunate position. Ms. Cotton had a kind heart and looked forward to helping others when she could.

Ms. Linda was preceded in death by her father and mother; brother Archie Irving Floyd, Jr.; Grandparents Thomas and Ora B Hudson, Archie and Julia Floyd; and son, Aurelious Alexander Sims, Jr.  She is survived by her children, Joi Sims-Wiggins, Anthony R. Cotton Jr.(Juliana), Anntonett Gillins (Roderick); siblings, Theresa Jewell (Earl), Richard Floyd, Donna Hudson, Jeffrey Lee, Paul Floyd, Charlotte Lee, Celestine Lloyd, Darnella Yancie, Henry Foxworth, and Stephen Foxworth; grandchildren, Damaria, Jasmine, De'Anthony, Jayla, Desteni, Janet, Isaiah and Christian; life Partner Ernest Haynesworth, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A family celebration of Linda Elaine Cotton's life will take place on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, located at 245 S. Armistead Avenue in Hampton, VA. Visitation will take place from 2pm to 3pm and the memorial service from 3pm to 4pm.
