L. Conway Rogers, 86, resident of the Devonshire, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2015. Born in Sandston, VA on November 13, 1928 he graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Richmond, and in 1951 from VPI (now Virginia Tech.) The proud Hokie brought his civil engineering degree to NACA and remained at NASA Langley for more than 30 years. Conway was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Jane Pierce Rogers and his sister Barbara Royce Rogers. He actively participated in the Hampton community through the Buckroe Volunteer Fire Company, St. Tammany and Army/Navy Masonic Lodges, United Methodist Men and Phillips Athletic Association. Through the years, his hobbies included boating, photography, woodworking and remote control airplanes. Loving father to Barbara, David (wife Kathy) of Hampton, and Steven of Vancouver, B.C., he took special joy in being Grand-Pére to Graham Currin (wife Katie) of Pasadena, Sara Currin of Winchester, VA, Wesley Rogers of Suffolk and Emma Rogers of Vail, CO. Service of Remembrance will be Sunday, September 27, 4:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church - Fox Hill, with reception afterwards in the fellowship hall.
