Lester R. Holmes, Jr., died Tuesday, January 7, 2014. Born in Maryland, he had been a longtime Hampton resident. Lester served in the US Army and then the Air Force. He worked 25 years as an electrician at Langley Air Force Base and was a member and Past Master of Monitor Masonic Lodge.

Mr. Holmes, was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Holmes. He is survived by his daughter, Leslie Ann Seimers and husband Andrew; sons, Ronald L. Holmes, Sr. and wife Connie, and Robert L. Holmes and wife Cindy; brothers, John R. Holmes, William S. Smith, James E. Rudder; twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Friday, January 10, 2014 at Langley Baptist Church with interment to follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-7 PM at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Ave, Hampton.
