Leland R. Smith passed away December 27, 2020 surrounded by his family. Born in Oklahoma City, OK he had been a longtime resident of the Peninsula. Leland served his country in the US Navy for 20 years retiring as an E-6. Following his military service, he owned a TV repair shop. Leland loved golf and spending time with his family during his retirement. He was a kind but stern man, and his word was his bond in life.

He was preceded in death by his wife and the love of his life Leola Smith in January of 1997, and his daughter, Tina Peyton. Survivors include his children, Donald Smith, Debbie Baranowski, Claire Clark, and Tammy Durham; as well as 12 grandchildren and a large extended family.

The family will receive friends at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 from 5-6 PM. Due to gathering restrictions, a private service will be held and interment will follow with military honors at Hampton Memorial Gardens.
