Obituary

Lee D. Parker went home to be with his Lord on June 22, 2017. He was a loving and devoted husband and father.

Lee was a native and lifelong resident of Hampton. Upon graduating from Hampton High School, he attended Washington & Lee University, then NC State University where he earned his degree in Civil Engineering. Lee worked at Ft. Monroe as Post Engineer and NACA(now NASA) as a civil engineer. After 36 dedicated years in Civil Service, he retired from NASA on a Friday and started working the following Monday as Purchasing Agent for Hampton City Schools.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church Fox Hill where he participated in the Tri-X Sunday school class. Lee was past president and a Paul Harris Fellow in the Hampton Rotary Club, past Master of St. Tamany Lodge #5, secretary of Army & Navy Lodge #306, and volunteered his surveying knowledge to friends and those in need.

Lee was predeceased by his parents and the love of his life, "Punky" his wife of 64 years. He is survived by his daughter Gwen(Mike), sister-in-law Constance Clarke, nephews David and Tom Jackson, niece, Nancy Jackson, great nieces, Heather and Hannah, great nephews Joshua and Austin and loving cousins.

A funeral service will be conducted at 3 PM, Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Ave, Hampton with interment to follow in St. John's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church Fox Hill, 1 Salt Pond Rd., Hampton, 23664.
