June 12, 1932 – May 3, 2016
Vincent Doheny, 83, passed away on May 3, 2016. A native of Pennsylvania, he had been a Hampton Roads resident for over 50 years. Vincent served 22 years in the Navy retiring as a Lieutenant Commander. Following his retirement he went on to teach Special Education while earning his Master's Degree in Counseling. His love of helping people led Vincent to a second career with the Community Services Board, where he retired after 22 years of service as the Executive Director of Western Tidewater. In his free time, he was an avid reader and loved traveling.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette P. Doheny; sons, Vincent S. Doheny, Eric C. Doheny (Christine), and Michael J. Doheny (Victoria); step-children, Susan P. Morgan (Paul Babcock), David R. Morgan, and Vickie L. Dunn (Ken); grandchildren, Christopher Doheny, Julianne Doheny, Joshua Morgan, Luke Morgan, Jason Riker, Michael Babcock (Emily), Megan Babcock, Cutter Dunn, and Jamie Dunn; brothers, Noel Doheny, Patrick Doheny (Eileen); sister-in-law, Donna Doheny, along with his extended family.
The family would like to thank Riverside Hospice for all of the compassionate care they provided as well as Hope In Home Care for the wonderful assistance they provided. A special thanks to Myisha Weaver for the outstanding care she provided.
A Christian Prayer of Resurrection will be celebrated at Saint Mary's Catholic Church on Monday, May 9, 2016 at 2PM.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Vincent's memory to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 5041 Corporate Woods Dr. Ste. 245, Virginia Beach, VA 23462 or WTCSB, Vince's Place, C/O Andrew Jurewicz, 5268 Goodwin Blvd. Suffolk, VA 23434.
