Larry D. Penn, 71, died Tuesday, June 6, 2023. Born in Martinsville, VA, he had been a Hampton resident since 1983. He retired from the Air Force in 1992 after more than 20 years of service. He was the owner of Penn's Quick Repair. He loved working on cars. He was a member and trustee of Second Baptist Church. He was treasurer in the Masonic Lodge in Germany.

Preceded in death by his parents, Green and Irene Staples Penn and his son, Thomas Mueller; survivors include his wife of 46 years, Anneliese Penn; his son, Larry Penn, Jr.; his sister, Rebecca Wade; seven grandchildren, Ashley, Mikayla, Ethan, Elle, Yvonne, Isaiah, and RJ; six great-grandchildren, Isiah, Levi, Violet, Aubree, Arya, and Louis; two nieces, Heidi and Brittany; a nephew, Ron; and many family and friends in Hampton and Martinsville.

The family would like to thank Jennifer and Dana for their support over the last 20 years.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 in the R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home chapel.
