Larry G. Miller, Sr., 91, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 30, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born in Norfolk, Virginia, to parents Lloyd and Nellie Miller, he spent most of his life in Virginia, except for his time in the United States Air Force. Larry proudly served his country, working as an air traffic controller and dedicating himself to ensuring the safe passage of aircraft throughout his career. After his retirement from the FAA, Larry transitioned to a new chapter, working with Jackson Hewitt, where he continued to serve his community in a different capacity.
Larry and his beloved wife Seiko enjoyed a fulfilling retirement filled with ballroom dancing and many world cruises. Together, they explored many countries, creating lasting memories along the way. Larry was known for his devotion to family, his church, and his generous spirit. His love for his country, his work, and his family will be cherished and remembered by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 35 years, Seiko I. Miller; his son, Ronald W. Miller; his brother, Lloyd E. Miller; his stepson, Steven White; and his great-granddaughter, Elizabeth G. Cooke. Larry leaves behind his loving family: daughter Amy M. Overstreet (John), sons Larry G. Miller, Jr. (Wendy) and Thomas E. Miller (Jacqui); stepdaughters Tina M. Tray and Cheryl L. White; grandchildren Jessica R. Cooke (Peter), Alexander R. Miller, Thomas J. Miller, Chelsea C. Smith (Rob), Stephanie I. Mason (Scott), Ronald W. Miller, Jr. (Ashley), Vega Overstreet, Robert Chab, and Rebecca L. Chab (Andrew Friedman); as well as great-grandchildren Hannah G. Cooke, Noah J. Cooke, Ethan R. Cooke, Arabella Green, Wesleigh Mason, and Ismira Miller.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, February 3, 2025, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Avenue, Hampton, VA, with military honors. Burial will be private.
