Obituary

Larry Peter Ederer (Maj., USAF Ret.), 77, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2016.  Born in Omaha, NE, and raised in New Orleans, he had been a Hampton resident for 41 years.

Larry retired from the US Air Force in 1980 after 20 years of service to his country, which included service during the Vietnam War.  While serving, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.  He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Chapel at Langley Air Force Base.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Caroline Ederer; daughters, Laurie Wingfield (Steve) of Williamsburg, Heidi Butler (Joel) and Michelle Baxter (Ronnie) of Daphne, AL; son, Michael Ederer (Gloria) of Jacksonville, FL; eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Dr. Ann Marie DeFiglio, Dr. Teresa McConoughy, his nurses, Kelly Gilbert and Tonia Jacobson as well as the Riverside Hospice for all of their care during his illness.

An inurnment with full military honors will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at 1:00 PM Monday, December 5, 2016.  Everyone should arrive no later than 12:00 PM.
