Obituary

On Sunday, September 4th, 2022, Larry Joe Campbell passed peacefully in his home in Hampton, Virginia. Campbell was born in 1953 in Lamesa, raised in Amarillo, Texas, and worked in advertising for AutoInc. He was a man of many passions; he loved theater, reading, hiking, and, when he could, fly fishing in New Mexico. He especially enjoyed exploring the history of his second home in Virginia. Though he did miss his many great friends in Amarillo, especially listening to music during patio nights.

In retirement, he also found his passion for being a personal trainer for Hampton Family YMCA and enjoyed helping others and working with the team there.

He was preceded by his parents, Charles and Gertrude Campbell, and he is survived by his wife, Maggie Schulenburg, his siblings Robert Campbell, Kay Rainey, Janet and Richard Mathews, and his children, Daniel and Marsha Campbell, Brandon and Danni Campbell, and Caitlin and Ryan Gibson. He loved his grandchild, Vincent, and was looking forward to the birth of his first grandson, Slade Bryant, in October.

Services will be held at Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of the Peninsula at 13136 Warwick Blvd, Newport News, at 6pm Saturday, October 15th, 2022.
