Kristin Bryndis McRainey, 90, passed away at Devonshire Assisted Living in Hampton, VA. She was born in Reykjavik, Iceland and moved to the Riverdale area of Hampton in 1967. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Donald D. McRainey, who died suddenly in 1968.
Ms. McRainey is survived by her daughter Susanna M. Walker, granddaughter Brett Halsey Walker (Bernardo), brothers Thrainn Thorvaldsson, Asgeirr Thorvaldsson, and Gissur Thorvaldsson, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Kristin loved animals, the colors of fall, traveling to south Florida, and sports cars. She belonged to the Icelandic-American Association of Hampton Roads and actively participated in their full calendar of events for fifty years. In addition to that, she enjoyed being a member of The Exchange Club in Hampton. Her career involved working for personnel in Civil Service both at Ft. Monroe and on Okinawa, Japan.
