Kermit G. Edwards, Tech. Sergeant, USAF, retired, went to be with the Lord on August 20, 2015, after a short battle with Cancer. He was proceeded in death by his parents, William Lee Edwards Sr. and Mary Ward Edwards. Also by his son, Kermit G. Edwards Jr. , sisters Lilly Niemotka and Ruby E. Schrum, brother William Lee Edwards Jr. Kermit is survived by his children, Sylvia Silver (husband Ben), Janice Hernandez (husband Chuy) and Janet Snipes (husband Ken). Survived also by his sisters Edna Huckins and Geraldine Robins, brothers Norman Edwards, David Edwards and Ronnie Edwards. Kermit leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. The family would like to express their thanks to all the staff and family at Morningside of Newport News, where Kermit has resided for the last three years, for all the love and care they have provided. A special thanks to Melanie, Diane and Kathy. A memorial service with VFW rites will be conducted at 11 AM, Monday, August 24, 2015 at Faith Community Church, 657 Harpersville, Newport News, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the VFW at 1700E. George Washington HW, Tabb, VA 23693.
