June 18, 1926 – January 14, 2022
Kenneth Vincent Bernstrom, 95, passed away January 14, 2022. A native of Minnesota he had been a resident of Hampton for sometime. Kenneth was one of eleven children and following school, he served in the US Army. Ken was a proud World War II (Pacific theater) US Army infantry combat veteran of the 32nd (Red Arrow) Infantry Division , and, immediately after the war, of the 25th Infantry Division during the Army of Occupation (Japan). He retired from the Air Guard as a Master Sergeant and during that time he also worked for the Postal Service where he retired as a Station Manager. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star, and an active life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Ruppert L. Sargent Post 3219, Phoebus.
He is survived by his wife, Jean L. Bernstrom; children, Stephanie Bernstrom, Kimberly Gibbons (Mark), Stephen Bernstrom, Lisa Squire (Scott), and William King; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; as well as his brothers Gordon Bernstrom and Edsel Bernstrom.
A celebration of life will be held at First United Methodist Church, Fox Hill at a later date followed by inurnment in Arlington National Cemetery.
