Obituary

Kendal Tait Eriksen, 65, of Williamsburg, VA, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2025. He was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, to Gordon and Mary Eriksen.

Kendal graduated from West Forsyth High School and later earned his degree from Rappahannock Community College. A proud Green Bay Packers fan, Kendal also loved spending time in his garage, fishing, and working in the yard. Throughout his life, he was always willing to try new things and pick up new hobbies as they came along. He never met a project he didn't want to try—or a tool he didn't think he needed.

Known for his humor and quick wit, Kendal had a way of lightening the mood without even trying. He could make you laugh or feel better with just a few words. Music was part of his soul—if a good song came on, he'd sing every word like it was written just for him. In his younger years, he worked at County Seat in Hanes Mall, where he also modeled, often joking that he owned every color corduroy the company made.

Above all else, his greatest joy in life was being a husband and father; his family was always at the center of everything he did. Kendal deeply loved his family, and his kindness, dedication, and steady presence meant everything to those closest to him. He retired from HRSD in 2023 and frequently spoke fondly of the friendships and memories he made during his time there.

Kendal was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers Gordon Eriksen Jr., Dennis Eriksen, and Alan Eriksen, and his nephew Sean Eriksen. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 24 years, Tonia Eriksen; son, Jordan Eriksen; sister, Sigrid Eriksen; mother-in-law, Tonie Haymore (Kenny); father-in-law, Phil Jordan; sister-in-law Tina Hovey (Eric); brother-in-law Phillip Jordan (Theresa); and nephews and nieces Kenny Gibson (Kat), Tara Gibson Brown (Paul), Bobby Hanrahan, Donnie Jordan (Pilar), and Amanda Meadows (Wayne); great-nephews and great-niece Paxton, Jackson, and Emmy.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 12, 2025, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 807 W. Mercury Blvd., Hampton, VA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 10:00–11:00 AM at the church.

A reception with lunch will follow the service at the church. All who wish to honor Kendal are welcome.

Kendal will be remembered for his humor, his generosity, and the unwavering love he shared with those fortunate enough to know him. His legacy lives on in the laughter he created, the friendships he cherished, and the family who loved him beyond measure.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
