Kathryn Rainey Newman Vick, 53, passed peacefully on August 4, 2017. She was born on November 14, 1963 in Henderson, NC and only months later, after the passing of her father, moved with her mother and siblings to Newport News, VA. "Rainey" was a 1982 graduate of Warwick High School and later attended Thomas Nelson Community College for two years before beginning a career in retail management. In recent years, she was a part-time business manager and full-time, stay-at-home mom. Rainey loved her family, her neighbors, her numerous friends and enjoyed and expressed her faith as a natural part of her love of life. She was a bright and bubbly person everybody enjoyed and loved.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Bennett Newman and her brother Ralph Bennett Newman Jr.

Rainey is survived by her husband of 24 years, Steve Vick of Newport News and their son and daughter, Wyatt and Skylar Vick, her mother and step-father, Gilbert Mae and Horst Jahn of Newport News, her father-in-law Buddy Nicely of Carrollton, Fred and Betty Vick of Carrollton; her brothers, Larry Newman of Newport News, Steven Jahn and wife Tari, and Jonathan "Scott" Jahn of Newport News; her sister-in-law, Michelle Newman of Kill Devil Hills, NC, her sisters; Vicki Burton and husband Steve Burton of Yorktown and Sherry Winn and husband Randy of Newport News, along with 13 nieces and nephews and other extended family and those she called family.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Real World Worship Center in Newport News, 13771 Warwick Blvd. #25, by Pastor Jim Williams with visitation at 6pm and the service at 7pm Tuesday, August 15th, 2017. Interment will be private.
