Kathleen Pace Powell passed away February 23, 2023. A native of Hicksville, NY, she was a long-time resident of Hampton, VA. Kathleen was a retired public school teacher with the Newport News and Hampton school systems. She was a devoted wife and mother, who cherished time with family, pets, and travel. Kathleen was preceded in death by parents, William and Teresa Ellis. She is survived by husband, Charles; children, Anna and Alex (Jacqueline); siblings, Terri Ann (Steve) Riscica, Thomas (Carol) Ellis, and Timothy.  The family will receive friends at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home on Monday, Feb. 27 from 6-7PM. A funeral service will follow on Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 10am at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Alzheimer's Foundation of America. Click here to view service .
