Kathleen Anne Champion, 58, of Hampton, passed away Monday, April 8, 2019.  She was born in Kansas City, Missouri on May 29, 1960. She was part of an Air Force family that would eventually come to Langley AFB. Kathy remained in Hampton as a lifelong resident. Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas H. Champion and Ethelmae Gibbons Champion. Kathy is survived by her sister, Susan Sarver and husband Joseph; brothers, Thomas Champion and Edward Champion; and nephews Evan and Grant Sarver.

Kathy thoroughly enjoyed a career of nearly thirty-two years as a hair stylist at the JC Penny Hair Salon in Hampton where she had many long time clients.  She was also a faithful and devoted member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Newport News.

The family will have visitation at 10:00 am Monday, May 6, 2019 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.  Immediately following at 11:00 am, a Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Rev. John David Ramsey.  A reception will follow.

Kathy often expressed her gratitude for her friends, family members, and hospital and hospice staff that supported and cared for her. She cherished the love and support of Mount Carmel's St. Elizabeth's Guild, which shared her faith and love of God.

Donations in memory of Kathleen can be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church with a notation to "Ladies of Carmel" at 100 Harpersville Rd., Newport News, VA 23601
