Karen Louise O'Keefe 65, died Tuesday, January 8, 2019. Born in Newport News and a lifelong Peninsula resident, Karen was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She graduated from TNCC with a degree in Fire Science and worked until retiring as a paramedic from the Hampton Fire Department.

Karen is survived by her sisters, Sandra L. Jones(Roger) and Joyce Barnes; best friends, Bobby and Betty Christine; nephews, Jason W. VanLoan, Robert Smith, Frank Smith(Michelle), Jerry Kelling; nieces, Jamie Butler (Tim), Ashley Burns(Brent), Kathy Norville(Chris); her pets, Fudge and Marshall; and her church family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am, Monday, January 14, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with interment to follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church Monday prior to the service from 9:30–10:30 am.

The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to the Humane Society.
