Obituary

Karen Marie Hare (St. Onge), 62, passed away on June 27, 2024.  Born in Lawrence, Mass, she has been a resident of Hampton since 1996.

Beautiful, strong, kind, compassionate, and her willingness to give and help others are just a few of the many things that describe who Karen was daily. To some she was just Karen, a sister, a friend, a mediator, a voice of reason, a shoulder to cry on, and an ear to listen. But to family she was Mom or Memère.

For most of her earlier years, Karen grew up in Massachusetts, where she loved gardening, cooking and was a die-hard New England Patriots fan. One of her favorite places that she visited was Hawaii. A few of her proudest accomplishments were owning a restaurant and being a manager for Silicone Technology Corporation (Si-Tech).

Karen worked extremely hard and had to sacrifice at times to ensure that her daughters had everything they needed to be successful in life. It was not easy raising four girls, but she made it happen and instilled many core values that every woman should have, being thoughtful was her number one. Thoughtfulness was something that Karen took extreme pride in, and she was always willing to lend a helping hand in any way she could. Whether it was watching her grandkids, so the parents could enjoy a few hours out, helping with cooking, showing us all the tricks she uses and the right amount of each ingredient that needs to be used to make the dish perfect, or making her famous chicken salad and pasta salad, just to drop it off and say, "I made this for you," knowing it was a favorite dish among family and friends. The lengths she would go to make sure there were smiles on others faces was unmatched.

Knowing that all her daughters were happy, made Karen the happiest. It was her goal in life to see that, and that goal was met. Karen will be missed, not just by family, but by everyone that has met her. She left a mark on this earth, that most of us wish we could live up too. She was truly a remarkable person, and she will never be forgotten.

In the words of Karen…" I am going to grab my dooflatchy, make a U-turn in this hoochiepucker, and get home. See you when you get here, Bye-cycle!"

Karen was preceded in death by her mother, Annette St. Louis, and brother, Christopher St. Louis (Vicky).  She is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Gustafson (Carl), Kristina St. Onge (Ricky), Meghan Dorset and Kaytlin Crable (Chris); sister, Donna St. Louis (Wanda); brother, Dennis St. Louis (Sheila); Grandchildren, Angelique (James), Gavin, Anthony, Jordan, Troy, Sabra, Addison, Lillian, Bentley, Jaxon and Makenna; Great Grandchildren, Jameson and Nolan.
