IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kara Morgan
Joyner
May 30, 2016
Kara Morgan Joyner, 43, passed away on Monday, May 31, 2016 , after a very long and courageous battle with cancer. Kara was born and raised in Hampton, where she was a member of a loving First Presbyterian Church. She was the first child born to Henry and Sue Morgan, and was blessed with incredible intelligence, a keen sense of humor and was a gifted conversationalist, for which she will always be remembered.
Kara attended Hampton High School and graduated from Hampton Roads Academy, and briefly attended Randolph Macon College, and left after being diagnosed with Hodgkins Disease. Intrigued and inspired by her first battle with cancer, she then attended the Medical College of Virginia where she pursued a degree in Radiologic Technology.
She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Betty and Bill Martin, and paternal grandparents, Annie & James Morgan, and by her uncle, Chippy Martin.
She is survived by her parents, Sue & Henry Morgan of Carrollton, her kind, loving, steady and faithful boyfriend, Steve Hall, her ex-husband, Matt Joyner, a friend through all, and amazing father to their precious children, Grace and Jack Joyner. Kara is also survived by her brother, Hank Morgan and his wife, Tara, who was like a sister, and their two children, Callie and Trey Morgan. Kara was blessed to have been surrounded by a large and loud extended family that gathered on a regular basis and consisted of her aunts and uncles, Pamela Martin, Nancy and Dave Gilmore of Concord N.C., Ann and Tim Fisher, Jane and Bobby Quinn, and Martha and Ross Mugler, and 14 first cousins, that always showed their love and support.
Kara was also surrounded by special friends who personified that calling, Becky Tench, and Sara Curtis Williams . The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. John Kessler at Virginia Oncology and all of the wonderful staff who showed Kara such loving care during her illness.
The memorial service for Kara will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Hampton on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends at a reception following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church.
