Julise H. Townsend, 86, died Tuesday, August 22, 2017. Born in North Carolina, she had lived in Hampton most of her life where she was a longtime member of Central Baptist Church and retired from Leggett's Department store. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, a sister, her husband, Clayon N. Townsend, and a son, Edward Lee Townsend; survivors include her children, Gussie Lemons, James Townsend, Ronald Townsend, and Patricia Ritchie; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and a very special friend, Mel Delagarza.

The family will receive friends from 1-2pm Friday, August 25, 2017 at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home with a funeral service beginning at 2PM. Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens.
