Judge Edwin "Paul" Crider, Jr., widower of Evelyn L. Crider and a long time resident of Hampton, Virginia passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at the age of 93. He was born on November 27, 1921 in Chatham, Virginia. He was the son of the late E. Paul Crider and Ethel Whitehead Crider. He was a graduate of Hargrave Military Academy, University of Virginia and Emory University Law School. Judge Crider was a public school teacher at the former Brosville High School in Pittsylvania County, Buckroe, Jr. High and Hampton High in Hampton, Virginia. He was an Army Air Corps WWII Veteran, serving in the 726th Bomb Squadron of the 451st Bombardment Group (H), Mediterranean Theater of Operations. In 1965, Judge Crider was invited to be a visiting teacher for the Georgia Governors Honors Program sponsored by the Georgia Department of Education and held at Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia. Judge Crider was retired from the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court, 8th Judicial District in the City of Hampton, Virginia. Judge Crider was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. He is survived by his brother Walter Leslie Crider, two step-daughters; Connie Henderson (Jim) and Anne Storch. Other survivors include; Barbara M. Smith, Paul B. Reynolds (Marie), Michael L. Ryan (Brenda), Ethel R. Spady (George), Lee Davis, Anne Sandfort, Susan McLaughlin, Lucy C. Moore, Mary Mackenzi and other great nieces and nephews. A special thank you to The Devonshire for their care the last two years, especially Cheryl McCloud and Gladys Holloway. The family will receive friends from 11-11:45 AM Saturday at Historic St. Luke's Church, 14477 Benns Church Blvd in Smithfield. Immediately following at 12 Noon, a graveside service will be conducted at St. Luke's Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Liberty Baptist Church building fund or Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Virginia. Arrangements are by R.
