Joyce C. Small, 78, widow of Norman B. Small, died Sunday, August 18, 2013. Born in Rhode Island, she had been a Hampton resident since 1958. Joyce was very active in Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, participating in the Senior Choir, J.O.Y. Group and the Red Hat Society. She had also been a Cub Scout leader and supported the Boy Scouts, and was active in the P.T.A.

Joyce is survived by her children, Norman B. Small II and wife Lee Sherry, Deborah J. Bone, John A. Small, and Victoria L. Venable and husband James P. Jr.; 15 grandchildren, Norman B. Small III and wife Nici, Dawn M. Young and husband Rob, John A. Small Jr., April L. Bone, Michael B. Hudson, Robin E. Malett, Jessica N. Bone, J.P. Venable III and fiance Stacey, Haley N. Small, Laura G. Venable, Miranda D. Venable, Charles N. Venable; great grandchildren, Tyler J. Colsch, Jared R. Colsch and Cody J. Colsch, Kaitlyn L. Young, Riley M. Young, Devin J. Small, Kaleb P. Small, Veronica M. Malette, Ayden J. Small, Skylar N. Shackelford; cousins, Richard & Phyllis Read, lifelong friend Kay Kuchta and "Adopted Family" Sharon Linnin, Elizibith, Jason and Krista Hester.

A memorial service will be conducted at 6 PM, Monday, August 26, 2013 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
