Rev. Joyce Johnson went home to be with the Lord on February 15, 2018. Joyce was a dedicated Chaplain at Sentara Hospital in Hampton for over 20 years. She also volunteered her time and ministry at the Hampton City Jail and the Newport News Juvenile Detention Center.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Earl Johnson; her children, Earl Johnson, Jr., LaRae Hilton, Cassandra Wiggins ( Maurice Wiggins) and Jeremy Johnson; grandchildren David Osborne, Jr., Malaysa Hilton, Kendrick Wiggins, Versace Rodriguez, Aviana Ash and Tylanda Wiggins; two great-grandchildren; brothers Larry Ford, Chester Ford, and Melvin Ford, sisters Mary Wyatt and Janice Anderson.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am, Friday, February 23, 2018 at Cornerstone Worship Center, 41 Tide Mill Lane, Hampton by Bishop Annette Johnson. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-7:30 pm at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 South Armistead Ave, Hampton and then at the church Friday prior to the service from 10-11 am. Burial will follow at 1:30 PM at Parklawn Memorial Park.
