Joyce Forbes Holt, 82, died Friday, July 22, 2016. A native Hamptonian, Joyce was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church, Hampton where she sang in the choir for over twenty years. After her graduation from Hampton High School in 1952, she spent the next 20 years lovingly raising her family. Joyce then actively pursued her career in bookkeeping and taxes, working for Old Point National Bank Trust Department and Wyatt Brothers. Joyce and her husband, Jim, enjoyed boating on the Chesapeake Bay and traveling around the world.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 64 years, Jim Holt; daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Tom Heldreth, Lynn and Richard Turnage; grandchildren, Bryan Heldreth, Josh Heldreth, Emily Lincoln, and Amy Turnage; and four great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Edward and Caroline Forbes and her granddaughter, Julie Heldreth.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5-7pm at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 pm, Sunday, July 24, 2016 at First United Methodist Church by the Rev. Candace L. Martin with interment to follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.
