Obituary

Joseph Rosso passed away peacefully at home on June 19, 2014. Born in Hampton on December 22, 1922, he proudly served in the Navy during WWII. He was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church. Joe is survived by his wife, Marie; sons, Joe Rosso Jr. and Anthony Rosso; two grandchildren; brother Sam Rosso; sister-in-law, Jean Schwartz and husband Bill; special niece, Sharon Smith and husband Chuck; special nephew, Greg Schwartz and wife Diann; two great-nieces, Sarah Delp and Emily Smith; and a great-nephews, Jeremiah Smith; and many other nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the Sentara Hospice Team for their love and care during his illness. Also special thanks to Dee De Haven, a volunteer, who sat with Joe when he needed him. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM, Monday, June 23, 2014 at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home followed by a funeral service to be conducted by Pastor Ben Dolby to begin at 2 PM. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Resurrection Lutheran Church 765 J. Clyde Morris Blvd, Newport News 23601.
