Obituary

Joseph Fritz Romanyk, died January 19, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Gulf War where he finished his career as a Master Sergeant. In his younger days Joseph was in a rock band and loved music and to play guitar. He played football as a kid and went on to coach all three of his sons' football teams. He was a passionate Green Bay Packers fan. Joseph was a volunteer firefighter in 4 different departments as well as a volunteer EMT and served on the WAVES Board as President. He volunteered for many years in the Toys for Tots drives and was an all around great guy who would give you the shirt off of his back and then cook you a great meal or BBQ.

Survived by wife of 27 years, Donna. 3 sons, Joseph (Taylor) of Newport News, VA Nicholas (Faith) of Hampton, VA, Christopher of Syracuse, NY.  4 grandchildren, Nicholas and Stephen Romanyk and Liam and Amelia Romanyk.  2 sisters, 3 brothers, several nieces and nephews.

The family will gather to celebrate his life on Thursday January 25, 2024 at 1PM at The Vanguard Brewpub and Distillery in Hampton. Joseph's wish was to be laid to rest at the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veteran's Cemetery in Suffolk with full military honors which will be honored upon the completion of their new columbarium wall this fall.
