Joseph Albert LaBarre passed away on September 13, 2017 at the age of 83. Joseph is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Vilma LaBarre, along with his three children Teresa Crickenberger (Gary), Raymond LaBarre (Ann), and Donna Hodges (Michael); his grandchildren Michelle and Christopher Bullington, Noelle LaBarre, Sarah Gurganus and Tyler Hodges; and great grandchildren, Cayla and Brooke. Joe served in the Air Force for 20 years, where he met Vilma while stationed in England. He enjoyed traveling to many locations while in the Air Force and retired in Hampton, VA in 1975.   Over his many years he enjoyed bowling, golf, chess and cards and had a special fondness for military bands, Big Band music and the beautiful states of New England. Joe never met a stranger; he would strike up a conversation with everyone and always full of smiles. Spending time with his family was most important to him; he was always ready to give a helping hand to any in need. He leaves cherished memories for us all of special times shared.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 19, 2017 from 3-5 pm at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armstead Ave, Hampton.
