Joseph John Konesky, 67, passed away on September 8, 2014 at the Hampton Veteran Affairs Medical Center Spinal Cord Injury Living Center where he was a long term resident. Mr Konesky was born in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvnaia to the late Walter Konieczny and the late Josephine Wigas Konieczny. He served honorably in the United States Marine Corps, earning a number of Vietnam Service awards including the Combat Action Ribbon and the Vietnam Campaign Medal with device. He was a member of VFW Post 4639 and the Paralyzed Veterans of America, Richmond chapter. Mr Konesky expressed a love of all things Native American, and enjoyed fishing, bingo and crafts among many interests. He had a very generous nature and was known to say, "Have a nice day," to everyone he came in contact with. Mr Konesky will be interred at Albert G Horton Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, VA. Remembrances can be made to St Joseph's Indian School, Chamberlain, SD, or the Paralyzed Veterans of America.
