Johon Josephine Paul, 85, died Tuesday, July 25, 2017. A native of Phoebus, Johon had been a Hampton resident until moving to The Villages, FL in 2015. She graduated from St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic School, in 1948 graduate from Hampton High School and was a lifelong member of St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church. With her husband, Solon, they had owned the Phoebus One Hour Cleaners and then from 1970-1992 owned Paul Business Systems. Johon had been a member and past president of the Hampton Kiwanis Club and the Daughters of Penelope. She and husband Solon were the founders of the Child Abuse Program at CHKD and remained as members of the Development Board.

Johon is survived by her husband Solon Paul; and brother, John Ferris; and nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Monday, July31, 2017 at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church with interment to follow in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3-4 pm at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Ave, Hampton.

The family requests that any memorials take the form of contributions to the Child Abuse Program at CHKD, PO Box 2156, Norfolk, VA 23501-2156.
