John W Ward, 65, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on May 31, 2015 in Newport News, VA. John lived in Vallejo, California in the same house on Hanns Lane for all but the last two years of his life. He moved to Newport News in 2013 to be with family due to his deteriorating health. John was born to Bill and Betty Ward in Vallejo in 1949. He graduated from Vallejo High School in 1967 and earned an Associate's Degree in Materials Science from Contra Costa College in 1970. John worked at Mare Island from 1978 until it closed in 1996. After retiring from Civil Service, John worked for Continental Security Company until 2004. John was a lifelong bachelor. John's warm and friendly nature will be sorely missed by his loving sister, Joan Ward Strong, her husband, Rick, and their three children: Eric, 43, Ryan 40, and Katie 37. John's remains will be interred next to his parents and amongst his family at the All Souls Cemetery and Mausoleum, Vallejo, California. John's family would like to thank Pearl Salazar of Vallejo and the staffs of the Hidenwood Retirement Community and the St Francis Nursing Center in Newport News, VA, for their kindness and wonderful care.
