IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John Allen
Stutts
November 1, 1964 – August 21, 2023
John Allen Stutts, 58, died unexpectedly on Monday, August 21, 2023. Born on November 1, 1964, in Hampton, Virginia: he was the youngest son to parents Richard Lee Stutts and Nellie Taylor Stutts. John graduated from Bethel High School, Class of 1982, and went on to attend Christopher Newport University where he studied vocal and performance. His musical passion led him to direct numerous adult and youth choirs at churches in both Hampton and Newport News. John had a heart for people and service, and he eventually found his way to the food service industry where his career excelled at Hooters of America. He made his home in North Carolina in recent years and created long lasting friendships along the way. John loved listening to the rain and appreciated a good thunderstorm; his favorite movie was "Twister" and he enjoyed all music, especially songs from the eighties.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Stutts and Nellie Stutts; his step-mother, Shirley Stutts; grandparents; and numerous aunts and uncles. He is survived by his brother, G. David Stutts; uncle, Edgar Taylor, Aunt, Mary L. Copeland; nieces and nephew, Kerry Osborne, Kristen Stahlman (Joshua), David Stutts (Dominque), and Genevieve Okuma (Kyle Guaderrama); four great-nephews, Luke, Jacob, Samuel and William; special cousins, Charlotte Copeland Dillow and Ben M. Copeland, Jr. (Yvette) and their families; as well as his extended family, dear friends, and co-workers that were like family. John will be missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his beloved kitties Pumpkin, Nugget and Toast.
John loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and was never afraid to share that fact. To further honor his memory, be kind, give someone a smile, and show grace and mercy to your fellow man; just like our Heavenly Father does for each of us willing to receive it.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Oakland Cemetery, 1009 E. Pembroke Ave, Hampton, VA 23669.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in John's name to an animal care shelter of your choice.
