Obituary

John Joseph Rembish of Suffolk, Virginia passed away February 7, 2021 of natural causes.  "Jack", as he was known, was the youngest of the four children of Raymond and Eleanor Rembish.  He was born March 13, 1961 at Redstone Arsenal, in Huntsville, Alabama.   Jack grew-up in an Army family residing in a number of different places including Redstone Arsenal, Alabama; Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania;  Frankfurt and Pirmasens, West Germany; Hampton, Newport News, and Suffolk Virginia; and aboard his boat "The Good Time Gal" on the Chesapeake Bay.

Jack is survived by his siblings Sandra Kurkjian (Donald) of Richland, Washington; Raymond Rembish (Aida) of San Antonio, Texas; and Barbara Ziemba (Glen) of Hampton, Virginia, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Jack is a 1979 graduate of Hampton High School where he was an outstanding wrestler.  He attended Christopher Newport University before he decided to take on a career as a highly skilled machinist.  He is a 1984 graduate of the Apprentice School at Newport News Shipbuilding, one of the top apprenticeship programs in the country.  He worked at Newport News Shipbuilding for many years as an outside machinist helping to build several of our Nation's nuclear powered aircraft carriers and fast attack submarines.  Later, he re-located to Suffolk, Virginia where he worked for another 25 years until his retirement at the Lipton Tea, Unilever Corporation, plant where he helped to maintain the complex machinery used to manufacture the Lipton tea consumed by North America.

Jack enjoyed spending time on the water with his boat, crabbing, and fishing, and in the company of his family who misses him greatly.

Since 1971, Jack and his family were among some of the initial members of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, in Hampton, Virginia.

An interment of Jack's earthly remains will be held on December 20, 2023 at the Columbarium, of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, in Hampton, Virginia.
