John William Kern, 80, went home to be with his Lord on February 3, 2026. He was born May 26, 1945, in Newport News, Virginia. He is predeceased by his parents, Azalea K Prince and Robert D Prince, and his sister, Bonnie Kern.

JW was a graduate of Old Dominion University and member of Liberty Live Church in Hampton, Virginia.  He was the previous owner of Monks Place in the Pungo area of Virginia Beach after retiring from Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center as a member of the Civil Service for the Navy.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Amy & Jay Lundgren; sister, Mary Jean Love; and 5 nieces and nephews, Bonnie Simpson, Kimberly Golden, David Kidd, Cindy Johnson, and Jerry Callis.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 3920 Airline Blvd, Chesapeake, Virginia 23321.
