John Everett Holland, Jr., 84, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2016.  Born in Isle of Wight, he grew up in Suffolk and Portsmouth and graduated from Churchland High School.  A resident of the Peninsula for most of his life, he served the Federal Government with distinction for over 32 years, nearly 24 of those years with the United States Army Recruiting Command. He lived 14 years in Chicago before retiring as a Department Chief in Record Management and returning to Hampton.  John served in the U.S. Air Force for  four years.

Surviving are his sons, John H. Holland of Williamsburg and Michael D. Holland of Richmond; sister, Betty Morris of Lake Gaston, VA; grandchildren, Crystal and Michael and great-grandchildren, Haley and Gavin.

A graveside service with military honors will be at 10 am Thursday, July 21st at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
