John Lorenzo Dixon, 65, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News. He was a native of Washington, DC and retired from a career in the US Army. He had been a resident of the Hampton Veterans Affairs Medical Center Spinal Cord Injury Living Center for many years. John was known for his kindness, interest in others and love of sports. He was a fan of the Washington Redskins, Washington Nationals and Norfolk Tides. He is survived by his longtime friend, Susan Altman of Washington, DC, close family friend, Tiauana Roberts also of Washington, DC and numerous fellow veterans and staff at the VA Medical Center. John will be interred at the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, VA. A memorial service at the VA Chapel is being planned.
