John James "Jay" Crist, 37, passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, October 4, 2013. Born in Pittsburgh, PA on October 17, 1975, he had been a Hampton resident for the last 25 years where he graduated with the Hampton High School Class of 1993. He held an Associates' Degree from TNCC and worked for several different companies, the last one being Retro Insulation.

Jay loved nothing more than being around family and friends, especially his two youngest nieces who were the loves of his life. He enjoyed playing softball, throwing darts, shooting pool, and was an avid NASCAR fan with Carl Edwards being his favorite driver.

He will be sorely missed by his parents, Carole and Tom Rector; his sisters, Tammi Barrick and Renae Moreno; five nieces; two nephews; and his grandmothers, Dot Leshen and Ruby Rector.

A celebration of life will be conducted at 7:00 PM, Thursday, October 10, 2013 at Langley Baptist Church by Pastor Jud Nuckols.
