moved to Hampton at age 8 and lived the remainder of his life in Olde Wythe,

He graduated Hampton High School in January 1949, attended VPI/Wm & Mary in Norfolk & VPI in Blacksburg, VA. Jack was a true Southern Gentleman and a proud Marine who served in Korea & as a member of the 1953 Nevada Atomic Testing Group.  He worked for NNSD until 1976 when he formed his own company, "East Landing Design" and contracted to Phillip Morris, Richmond, Surry Nuclear Plant and Allied Signal, Chesterfield. Jack enjoyed swimming, boating, camping and spending time with his family. He always loved the water and bought his first boat when he was 10 years old.  He considered Hampton Roads his play ground, swimming and boating.  He loved having dinner and fishing on the water after a long day's work.

He extended his love of boating and swimming to his children, grandchildren and even his great-grandchildren. Many of the younger ones learned to swim in his pool and to fish off of his boat.  He was an adventurous child, swinging from and camping under the Live Oaks in what is now Merrimac Shores and running away with the Circus.  He also loved to dance, Ballroom, Square and Line Dancing.
