Jesse Richard Cartwright, 65, died Thursday, September 11, 2014. A native of Edenton, NC, he had been a Hampton resident since 1968 and was a very active and devoted member of Calvary Assembly of God. He retired from the Newport News Shipyard in 2012 after 46 years of service. An avid NASCAR fan, he was also a member of the local Impala Club and enjoyed gardening. Preceded in death by his father, Davis W. Cartwright, survivors include his wife, Octie Cartwright; two children, Amy Jenkins and her husband, Christopher and Jesse "Rich" Cartwright, II and his wife, Amie; his mother, Kate Cartwright; three grandchildren, Joshua and Caleb Jenkins and Elijah Cartwright; his brother, Davis Cartwright and his wife, Joy; two sisters, Faye Boyce and her husband, Jesse and Judy Hoggard and her husband, Raymond; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 PM, Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Calvary Assembly of God by Pastor David Highlander. The family will receive friends immediately before the service, beginning at 5:30. Interment will be private. Memorials may be made to the Calvary Assembly of God Missions Program, 1380 N.
