Jennie Ray Briley, 92, died Tuesday, March 7, 2017. Born in Deltaville, Jennie moved to the Peninsula in 1942. She is a member of Northside Christian Church. She worked for the Hampton City Schools from 1978 until recently becoming ill, first as a cafeteria worker and then as a school bus aid. She had also worked for Century Lanes from 1978-1987. She was a member of the Women of the Moose #213 and a member of Local 540 Women's Auxiliary Club.

Jennie is survived by her sons, Ed Briley and wife Lorie, Mike Briley and wife Terri; grandchildren, Jacob Briley and his fiancée Hollie Semple, and Erin Briley; and great-grandson, Jacob T. Briley, Jr.

Her family would like to acknowledge and thank her extended family and friends.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am, Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home 245 S. Armistead Ave, Hampton. The family will receive friends Monday from 5-7 pm at the funeral home.
