Jean Wade of Hampton Va. passed away peacefully on July 31 at the age of 89.

Her life was a testament to her faith as she lived by the words of Philippians 4:13:13 'I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength'. She was born in Green County North Carolina on February 6, 1936 where she grew up on a tobacco farm. She attended high school at Maury High School in Maury, North Carolina. She played basketball for the Maury Purple Hornets.

On January 3, 1953, she married the love of her life Calvin Durward Wade. In 1958, she and Durward moved to Hampton Virginia. She was a faithful member of Pine Chapel Baptist Church from 1958 until 2018 when she transferred her membership to Saint Mark's Methodist to be closer to her family. After raising five children, she went to work as a customer service clerk for Boulevard Cleaners until she retired in 2008.

Anyone who ever knew or met her always talked about how she was always more concerned about others than herself. She was a true servant of Christ.

Her parents, Robert and Martha Moore, her brothers Eric, and Bob Moore, her son Robby Wade and her husband, Calvin Durward Wade, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her brother Richard Carlos Moore and his wife Carol; her son, Marty Wade and his wife Melissa; her sons, Tony Wade, Jimmy Wade, and her daughter, Tammy Williamson; her grandchildren, Tania Slusser, Kenny Williamson, Amanda Oszust, Jason Wade, Jessica Weaver, Nick Wade, Calvin Wade, Cora Wade, and Connor Wade; her great grandchildren, Victoria Sheets, AlexisWilliamson, Peyton Slusser, Kylee Williamson , Reagan Oszust, Lilly Slusser , Zane Oszust , Addison Slusser, Kingston Wade, Wyatt Wade, Sophie Wade, Kolton Williamson and David Williamson.

A celebration of life will be held Thursday, August 7 at 11 am at St Mark's Methodist Church 99 E. Mercury Blvd., Hampton Va. 23669. A reception will follow the celebration in the St Mark's Family Life Center.

In lieu of flowers, the family would ask to make donations in her memory to St Mark's Methodist Church 99 East Mercury Blvd Hampton Va. 23669
