Jean Wright Lewis, born on December 19, 1927, passed away on November 6, 2016. A native of Caroline County, VA, she graduated from Caroline High School. She had been a resident of Fox Hill and a member of Wallace Memorial United Methodist Church since 1952. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin J. Lewis, her parents, Ryan G. and Leslie C. Wright, four sisters, and three brothers.
Survivors include her two children, George Wesley Lewis and wife, Lori and Susan Lewis Lindsey and husband, Gene; two grandsons, Clinton Wayne Lewis and Wesley Chase Lewis; and a brother, David Lee Wright.
Jean worked in the Circuit Court in Bowling Green, VA as the Chief Deputy until her marriage in 1952. She retired in 1994 as Chief Deputy Treasurer in the City of Hampton, which included many years of municipal service.
Jean had been President of the Grandview Shores Garden Club and was an active member of the Harris Creek Garden Club.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM -noon on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at R. Hayden smith Funeral Home.  A Celebration of Life Service will follow at noon. Interment will be in Clark Cemetery.
